Route

1 - Prague

Our start

2 - Moscow

Moscow is a beautiful cosmopolitan city with the historical downtown consisting of the Red square and Kremlin. Moscow has a really dense underground railway system with many station from Soviet era. Some of them are just feast for your eyes. It is not that hard to find someone who can speak English here unlike other parts of Russia. Because of the recession of the Russian economy(the Ruble exchange rate fell by almost 60% since 2013), prices in Moscow are bearable even for budget travelers.

3 - Perm

We were just passing through, made a 30-minute stop for refreshment purchase

4 - Yekaterinburg

We were just passing through, made a 40-minute stop for refreshment purchase, difficult to get beer

5 - Novosibirsk

again just passing through, beer, refreshment and ice cream

6 - Krasnoyarsk

last stop prior our final destination. Still the same landscape from the beggining

7 - Irkutsk

Finally!!! Spent a few day around and made some hikes in taiga around lake baikal

8 - Ulaan Baatar

No need to spend there more than two days. We spent three because of the Nadaam festival. Here you gotta hire your guide (recommended) or rent a car or a horse :-)

9 - Mongolia

10 - Mongolian desert

There is a lot of agencies providing trips and transport around Mongolia. It is basically the only option you have unless you can speak Mongolian and know the area. It was an intersting thing to wake up in a ger in the middle of a desert.

11 - Beijing

Here we spent just 4 days but we managed to see all the importat and iconic landmarks of the Chinese capitol.

Description

It was a great adventurous journey through almost half of the world. We started our journey in Prague. There we took a plane to Moscow where was the official starting point. We decided for 3rd class train to Irkutsk near lake Baikal. That journey last for endless 88 hours. Great adventure!!

Then we spend a few days hiking around the lake. Our next destination was wild Mongolia and we were on board of a train again. For this time it was only one day and the city of Ulaan baatar welcomed us!

There we took a great trip to the mongolian wilderness and spent several days with locals in Mongolian desert. Rode camels, eat sheep and drink Mongolian vodka!

We finished our trip in Beijing, China. Overcrowed and poluted city brought us new experiences. We tried typical Beijing duck and dumplings. Trips to the Great Wall and Forbidden city were more than mandatory.
